Central Wisconsin Chapter 2009-2010 Calendar of Events

The following is a tentative schedule of events for the 2009-2010 calendar year. Please check back often to see if there are any changes or updates to the schedule. You will usually find more detailed information just prior to the event posted on our Home Page.

Aug. 17, 2009 Chapter Picnic and Board Meeting, 5:30 p.m., Leon Town Hall in Pine River. Hosted by Bob Smaglik, Gary Herlache, Dick Kraus, and Chris Northway.
Sept. 19, 2009 Workday at Cedar Springs, 8:00 a.m. Contact Jim Humphrey
Sept. 21, 2009 Fin ‘N Feather, Winneconne, Business Meeting, 6:15 p.m.; Program, 7:30 p.m. : Nate Sipple, Green Bay, Guide for Tight Lines Fly Fishing Company will present a program titled “Badger State Tributary Fishing”. The program is free and the public is invited to participate.
October 15, 2009 CWTU Annual Conservation Banquet. LaSure's Banquet Hall, Oshkosh (across Hwy 41 from the EAA Grounds). Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for cocktails (cash bar), social hour, and raffle sales. Dinner at 6:30. Evening over by 9:15 p.m. Contact David Seligman for more information. There will be no monthly meeting in October and we encourage everyone to attend our banquet instead.
Nov. 9, 2009 Fin ‘N Feather, Winneconne, Business Meeting, 6:15 p.m.; Program, 7:30 p.m.: Jim Hauer, Green Bay, Tight Lines Fly Fishing Company and Bluesky Flyfishing will present a program titled “NIPIGON: Land of the Giants”. This is an exciting program on catching giant Brook Trout on Ontario’s famous Nipigon River. The program is free and the public is invited to participate.
Dec. 14, 2009 Fin ‘N Feather, Winneconne, Business Meeting, 6:15 p.m.; Program, 7:30 p.m.: “Trout Night at the Movies”, CWTU’s Program Committee presents two of the trout fishing’s best videos ever produced. We will have a big screen and big sound projection system, plus some surprises. The program is free and the public is invited to participate.
Jan. 18, 2010 Fin ‘N Feather, Winneconne, Business Meeting, 6:15 p.m.; Program, 7:30 p.m.: CWTU’s Program Committee presents David Seligman, Tom Young, Russ Bouck, Shawn Sullivan, John Gremmer, and others collaborating on a program titled: “Night of the Hex.” The program is free and the public is invited to participate.
Feb. 27, 2010

Fin ‘N Feather, Winneconne, 9:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m., CWTU’s TroutFest ‘10. TF ‘10 includes 10 mini-seminars, raffles, fly tying demos, artisans, used equipment sale, guides, outfitters, youth fly tying instruction, water monitoring, stream rehabilitation, and more. The program is free and the public is invited to participate.

Fin ‘N Feather, Winneconne, Business Meeting, 6:15 p.m.; Program, 7:30 p.m.: Steve Hogler, WDNR Biologist, Mishicot, presenting “Exploring Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan Fisheries”. The program is free and the public is invited to participate.

June 4-6, 2010 CWTU’s Annual Fly Fishing School, Camp LuWiSoMo,Waushara County near Wild Rose. Fly Casting, reading the water, understanding hatches, selecting fly patterns, tackle selection, knot tying, and fly tying demos are just some of the topics covered. Contact Dan Harmon.
June 12, 2010 Invasive Species Workshop: CWTU River Keepers and The River Alliance of Wisconsin are sponsoring the workshop that will be held from 9:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at Hartman Creek State Park in the enclosed shelter. May 17, 2010 CWTU Meeting, 6:15 pm, Fin 'N Feather, Winneconne: Alistair Steward will present a program on the Central Sands Initiative after the meeting.
