FVTC/CWTU Introduction to Fly Fishing and Fly Tying Class during their second class meeting at Winneconne High School.

Announcing:  Two new fly fishing related classes for


2015 through CWTU/Fox Valley Technical College.


A.  Starting January 12, the Introduction to FlyTying class will begin, and run for four consecutive Mondays.  The class will be held at Winneconne High School and will start at 6:30 pm and end at 8:30 pm.  CWTU will provide all the tools needed.  A $10 lab fee will pay for the materials used to make the flies.  Content will include the fundamentals and materials suggested to create flies that catch many varieties of fish.  Cost is $37.64 and $34.45 for those 62 and older.  Call 920-735-5645 to register for the class.  If you have trouble, call John at 920-379-9263 or [email protected].


B.  Starting April 13, the Introduction to Fly Fishing class will begin, and run for four consecutive Monday.  Loaner fly rods are available to use during the class. The class will meet at Winneconne High School, Marble Park in Winneconne, and will start at 6:30 pm and end at 8:30 pm.  The class focuses on topics such as casting, rigging, fly selection, knot tying, equipment selecting, and where to fish.  Cost is $37.64 and $34.45 for those 62 and older.  Call 920-735-5645 to register for the class.  If you have trouble, call John at 920-379-9263 or [email protected]










Participants from the 2013 CWTU/FVTC "Introduction to Fly Fishingand FlyTying Class", and their CWTU guides, gather in the Waupaca River before an evening of guided fly fishing on May 21.  The class had 25 members and was taught by Jim MurphyDavid PableMike SandrettoBob Haase, and John Gremmer.

Introduction to Fly fishing & Tying instructor John Gremmer lands a big carp that he caught fly fishing along the shores of Lake Michigan.  Any fish can be caught on a fly.

Introduction to Fly Fishing & Tying instructor Jim Murphy lands a cutthroat trout on the Tongue River in Wyoming.

Just caught my first trout on the Yellow Gurgler we tied in class.  Thanks to you both for introducing me to a great sport and getting me out on the river!
