Every winter the CWTU chapter sponsors a Master's Fly Tying Series that is held at Winneconne High School in Winneconne, Wisconsin. The series consists of five, three hour sessions where the instructor "Master Tier", demonstrates how to tie three new patterns. By use of an digital camera and LCD projector, each participant follows along and completes tying each fly, then usually has a chance to tie a second fly of the same pattern. This is dependent upon the complexity of the fly and the time it takes to tie it.
This program generally runs through the month of January and sometimes into the beginning of February, and is usually held on Thursday evenings beginning at 6:30pm.
The program is limited to around 25 persons and the cost generally runs about $45 per person to cover the cost of materials and rental of facilities. Each of the presenters provides all the materials for each participant to tie the patterns demonstrated and the participants provides the tools and basics such as thread. The class fills up fast so when announced, you need to contact the coordinator, Ira Giese, as soon as possible.
