CWTU will be sponsoring a Master’s Fly Tying Series at Fin n’ Feather restaurant (upstairs banquet room) at 22 Main st. Winneconne, WI again this winter. The series consists of five three hours sessions where the instructor “Master Tier”, demonstrates how to tie two or three new patterns. By use of a digital camera and LCD projector, each participant follows along and completes tying each fly, then usually has a chance to tie a second fly of the same pattern. This is dependent upon the complexity of the fly and the time it takes to tie it.
The program generally runs through the month of January and sometimes into the beginning of February, and it is usually held on Thursday evenings beginning at 6:30PM. Many of the participants meet between 5:00PM - 5:30pm at Finn n Feathers before the class and have dinner.
The program is limited to around 25 persons and the cost runs about $45 per person to cover the cost of materials and rental of facilities. Each of the presenters provides all the materials for each participant to tie the patterns demonstrated and the participant provides the tools and basics such as thread. The class fills up fast so when announced, usually in September, you need to contact the coordinator as soon as possible. Those who were in the 2017 class will be given first opportunity to join the 2018 class.
The 2018 coordinator is Tom Meyer email: [email protected] ph: 715-281-5767.
