CWTU Fly Fishing School

The Central Wisconsin Chapter of Trout unlimited sponsors a Fly Fishing School every year, usually around the first weekend in June. It covers most aspects of fly fishing and is a great way to learn how to fly fish for trout and other species such as panfish. For more information about the school such as the dates, who to contact, cost, etc., please click on the title above.

Annual Banquet

A banquet is held every year to recognize individuals that have helped with the many activities of our chapter and our goal of enhancing and protecting our cold water resources. This is also one of our major fund raisers for raising the funds needed to support our activities such as stream restoration work and stream water monitoring.  It is open to the public and you do not have to be a member to attend. There are always a lot of great prizes provided in our raffles, silent auctions, and live auctions. Our banquet is usually held in October and you can click on the title for more information.

Trout Fest

Trout Fest usually occurs the third weekend in February.  One of the main purposes of Trout Fest is to provide an opportunity for people to find out more about fishing for trout and other species, fly tying, conservation, and related subjects. There ten or more mini seminars, vendors, and some of the best fly tiers in the area demonstrating their skills.  There is also a youth fly tying program where children can tie their first fly with the help of skilled tiers. All this is FREE and open to the public.  Click on the title for more information.

Master's Fly Tying

The Master's Fly Tying program is for anyone interested in fly tying. Enrollment is on a first come basis and is limited to around 24 persons.  It usually runs once a week during the month of January and the first part of February for five or six sessions.  You do not have to be a "master tier", you just need to know the basics and and have had some experience tying.  It is called the Masters Tying Program because we bring in around 5 or 6 "Master Tiers" to share and demonstrate their skills in tying their favorite patterns.
