Shown above is Jeff Treu, one of the instructors for Master's fly tying class held on January 23, 2020. Jeff demonstrated how to tie a Fan Wing Royal Coachman and a Tri Color Streamer. The other instructor for the evening was John Gremmer, teaching how to tie a McGinty bee pattern. Beside showing the steps in tying specific patterns, instructors often provide tying techniques that help make tying easier, and instruction on how to fish the patterns tied.
The CWTU Master's Tying program runs for five three hour sessions in January and sometimes into February. The program is limited to 25 tiers and fills up fast every year. Each of the presenters provides all the materials needed to tie the flies and the participants provides the tools and basics such as thread.
Besides being an instructional program, it is also a social event with presenter and many of the participants getting together to eat at the Fin N Feather before the event.
The program is coordinated by CWTU member Tom Meyer.
